DOWLEX PE Resins

DOWLEX™ PE Resins were a breakthrough product in the plastic industry. First introduced in the US in 1978, DOWLEX PE Resins were commercialised in Europe in 1980. Production in Europe started in 1982 in Dow’s Terneuzen plant in the Netherlands.

Made with DOWLEX resins

The rest of the ‘80s saw spectacular growth. From a core of film applications DOWLEX PE Resins also made inroads into food and specialty packaging films, hygiene and medical products, consumer and durable good, pipes, rotational moulding etc.

The next generation DOWLEX PE Resins for the agricultural market were introduced in the early 1990s and offered improved properties like puncture resistance.

In 2002, Dow introduced in the market a resin specifically designed for silage application: DOWLEX 2045S (68KB PDF). The enhanced resin has extremely high quality consistency and a very tight specification for a higher resin performance.

This resin provides the right combination of processability and mechanical performance that makes it a leading resin on the European Market of silage wrap.
